2023 was challenging yet remarkably interesting for all of us at Talkies. This year, we embarked on several new initiatives. For instance, we hosted guest shifts from foreign bars and collaborated with influential figures in our field. While supporting our troops remains a key focus of these endeavors, we also aim to attract new patrons and promote Ukrainian bar culture globally.
My primary goal for the year ahead is to gain recognition in international guides and awards. To achieve this, our team will continue participating in guest shifts at international bars. Personally, I plan to invite a high-profile international brand ambassador to conduct a guest shift at Talkies. Despite the challenging circumstances in our country, I've noticed an increasing number of foreigners enjoying our cocktails in Kyiv. This suggests that perceptions of safety in Kyiv have improved compared to six months ago. Hosting such an event would draw significant attention to our establishment and the broader bar scene in Ukraine.
In the aftermath of victory, our long-standing plans, such as opening a Talkies abroad, can finally come to fruition. Although we had planned this before the full-scale invasion, circumstances have delayed our efforts. Nonetheless, I'm confident that Talkies—a unique and exciting project—will attract a dedicated following in other countries around the world. Therefore, our immediate focus is on raising awareness of Talkies among as many people as possible.
On a personal note, I also hope to dedicate more time to our team. While our team isn't large, its members—whether working behind the bar or contributing to our incredible marketing efforts, evident on our Instagram—are all invaluable. Establishing a shared day off at least once a month would be invaluable for nurturing mutual respect and camaraderie within our team.
